The National Memorial Day for the Genocide of Lithuanian Jews
The National Memorial Day for the Genocide of Lithuanian Jews, established in 1994 by the Lithuanian Parliament, commemorates Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Since that time, Lithuanians have developed a greater awareness of the Jewish contribution to Lithuanian culture and increased their desire to understand the history and fate of Jewish citizens of Lithuania.
The Lithuanian Community of British Columbia invites you to an informative, commemorative and educational event. You will have an opportunity to learn about the Jewish contribution to prewar Lithuanian culture, to discover the fate of the Lithuanian Jewish community during the Holocaust, and to honour the victims of genocide. This year, in view of the 700th anniversary of Vilnius, the commemoration will focus on Jewish life in Vilnius before, during, and after the Holocaust.
All are welcome to attend.
